''Slowly but surely Birmingham is taking its place as one of the country’s most creative cities.

I am thrilled to attend this year’s Birmingham Film and TV Market, as I will get the chance to be in the room with these talented filmmakers as they push forward with their careers.''

To me, the telling of stories and the hearing of tales has always been an essential part of human nature.

I’m thrilled to be joining the BFTM on their journey.

This is a young vital creative hub that is attracting the very best of film and television making talent and world leading production companies to this great city, my hometown, at the very heart of the UK.

JAiME WINSTONE - interview for bfm 2021

  • What made you get involved with The BFM?

I was connected by a very good creative friend of mine and was naturally intrigued when I heard about this film movement in Brum.

  • Why are events like The BFM so important to the film and tv community outside of London?

I have always found a natural place in the British independent film industry,  from doing my first short in Newcastle to my first lead role in Wales.

My career was born from the British Film Council and it’s very important to expand creative hubs that are so full of talent; such as the Birmingham film and music scene.  So many doors to be opened and so much talent to be explored/ discovered…

We can’t do this without making some noise and embracing a healthy push to the future of film... it’s exciting how much raw talent is out there.

  • How will you be involved with the BFM and what would you like to get out/put in to it?

I would like to lend my advice and knowledge of the experience I have in the British film industry so far, from being an actress/ runner/producer.

I would also love to see and encourage materials in which the UK & Birmingham industry has to offer and how we can provide a platform for the new wave film of making talent whether they be writers, directors, producers, crew members etc.

  • What advice would you offer people trying to break in to the Industry?

Stay open minded, be brave, believe in yourself and always focus on the ultimate goal in film.. make a difference and leave an audience impacted.

Tell your story true to your vision. Work closely with your team and trust the people you work with.. be prepared to jump blindfolded...Get a good AD TEAM AND DOP and a great film lawyer!
